How You Spent $200K Thursday, 06 March 2014 Recently, we were the first Council District to pilot "participatory democracy" here in Long Beach. We asked you to decide how to spend $200,000 of one-time funds, and you responded. When we tallied all the votes, the projects in first through third place were extremely close. Here are the results:
Congrats Mayor Foster Thursday, 23 January 2014 Recently, Mayor Bob Foster gave the final State of the City address of his tenure. Reading over his remarks, I was struck at the significant changes we have made at the City in recent years. We accomplished significant pension reform, allowing us to preserve services for our residents. We set aside millions of dollars and established a funding plan for unfunded liabilities, helping our children who would otherwise be burdened with debt tomorrow for services we enjoy today. We initiated and funded a Westside Plan that has the potential to dramatically transform the western side of our city over the coming decades.
Happy Holidays Monday, 23 December 2013 Over the holidays, I reflect on the blessings I have received. I am blessed to have a family that is healthy and happy, including twins Theodore and Maria, and my Long Beach Poly high school sweetheart, Nicole. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to represent the city I care so much about. I appreciate all who have worked with us in the past year to improve Long Beach. From my family to yours, have a great holiday season.  We look forward to seeing you next year.
